Gelatin Bubbles are so easy to create for decorating Cakes and Cupcakes. Today we will show you how to make Gelatin Bubbles with decorations on cupcakes and cakes. For these lovely hard gelatin bubbles, you will need the following things.
Water balloons. Not regular-sized balloons. You want water balloons. You are just blown up to the size you want. In different sizes is excellent
The first thing you’re going to want to do is to prepare your balloons. Blow them into the sizes that you wish to and get a toothpick on the end that you have leftover of the balloon.
Just stick the toothpick straight through it like that it’s stuck on there it is. You can also tie the balloon around the toothpick as well for more stability if you want to be able to stick into the top of the styrofoam. We hold on the side.
Now you want four tablespoons of water. It doesn’t need to be hot doesn’t it be cold, just four tablespoons of water. Then only one or two drops of food coloring of the color of your choice as we have mentioned using liquid food coloring make the bubbles take longer to dry. So if you have luster dust in that color use that.
If you are using four tablespoons of water, you want two tablespoons of gelatin powder it is 2:1 by ratio. Depending on how many bubbles you want to make. If you are looking for quite original Gelatin powder you can easily get premium Gelatin from Halal Gelatin.
Just remember it’s always 2:1. So we are using four tablespoons of water, and two tablespoons of gelatin powder to give that all a perfect mix around. It will become beautiful and gluggy
We pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds to make it liquid.
So here is our liquid gelatin ready for dipping giving them a gentle stir making sure it’s all mixed through and there are no significant lumpy bits of gelatin which there shouldn’t be, but I’ll always like to make sure I give it a good stir.
You are ready to get started and like I said you’re going to want these gloves because it is messy work and it is time-consuming work. You have to be willing to put in the time sitting or standing and waiting, but just the bubble in you don’t need to be careful with it.
So make sure it’s all coated and drip it off a little bit back into the bowl first and then tip it up as you can see I have done there dipping it into the bowl so that it all gets a covering on it. Give it a bit of a drip off and then turn it up so that all the excess liquid runs to the back because you’re going to cut out the end anyway so if you have some bumps there that are not important you don’t want the lumps down the bottom.
Do three coats on each balloon. We think three layers is plenty. Some people do four. If you want to do four, it means it’s going to take longer to dry three coats is plenty on all of mine. Stick them into the side of your styrofoam and leave them at least overnight to dry. It can take 24 to 48 hours depending on the coloring, and again if you have used liquid coloring it will take longer to dry, we found lustre dust ones did certainly dry a lot quicker.
Once you have your lovely dry balloons all over you still have to make sure you check all over because they might be dry at the top but always be wet on the bottom.
You get some scissors and put a hole into the water balloon so that it deflates. If our sharp pair of scissors were sharper because we should have called them an adult pair of scissors.
But just put a little hole into your balloon. Let it start to deflate, and it starts pulling away from the inside of the gelatin bubble. You can then use your scissor to cut a circle around the top of the balloon so you can remove the balloon out from the middle of the gelatin bubble. And you can just cut through the gelatin. It’s perfect and firm, and you can get a pretty good grip on them.
But cut around the outside to make a circle where you have reached the balloon tie.
Please wait for that balloon to pull apart so that it starts to pull away from the inside. So pull out the whole balloon you shouldn’t need to remove it into pieces. You can pull that balloon out and discard it, and then you’re leftover with a lovely hard gelatin ball now I am using these in a project later.
But they are effortless, just a little bit time consuming, but there are so many things you could do with these gelatin bubbles.
Now Edible Gelatin Bubbles are looking very beautiful with their shape and color. They will have a really good contrast on the cakes where you really want to fix them.
